I rented (yes rented, from Avis) an X5 gas last week. Got 26 on the highway. Couldn't believe it.

I got 22 MPG on the highway over the weekend on my 4.8. I usually don't check since I do mostly city driving.

I was going about 70 MPH--all on highway. City, though, is pretty bad--but to be expected.

That's incredible. Best I've ever done is 19. And that was really trying.
Typical is 13-14, as it spends most of its time around town.

We just picked up a super clean (Kansas car) CPO'd 4.8i last weekend and haven't left the city, but OBC is reading 16 mpg. All options minus DVD and pricepoint was at least $15K less than a comparably equipped 35d. so I paid the 15k to myself as a non-eco credit and will enjoy the V8 without too much guilt or worry. Curious to see highway mileage on a trip.
