Painting 19" 211 - what color
I just dropped off my 19" y-spoke 211 wheels to get powder coated gunmetal. Didn't like how the silver stood out since my car is grey with all trim blacked out. The powder coating guy mentioned satin black, which has me thinking....
I was thinking satin black originally, but was worried it might be too loud. Any thoughts? I have an hour or two before they start on the wheels. |

I dunno, orig silver would be the best.
Grey car w/ grey rims, pretty bad combo. On a grey car, silver > blk > grey. IMHO Never mind, gunmetal is not a grey, so it would be the best!

Those Ferric Gray 21" 215 wheels seem to be popular on the Space Gray--you might want to see if they have something similiar.

From personal experience, I can say that Ferric Grey wheels (paint code A80) look a lot better than silver wheels on a Space Grey X5...

I have the same wheels. Would love to see how they turned out in a different color.

here's how they turned out. the color is a match to space grey, but 3-4 shades darker. they look almost black in the picture, but in the light they are definitely a dark rich colored grey. very happy with how it turned out.
if anyone in the bay area needs to get wheels painted or fixed, I highly recommend Rite Wheel in Walnut Creek. Their shop is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, but they work on a lot of high-end cars. When I was there, they were re-finishing a set of HRE's for an M3 and painting a set of wheels for a 911 turbo satin black.

I dig it. However, I don't think it would look great on black sapphire metallic.

Yes and no.... It looks like really dirty rims full of brake dust.
