Satellite TimeShift not working

Has anyone successfully been using the time shift feature on the satellite radio? On my commute, I go through 2 tunnels so I was expecting the radio to go into timeshift mode when I lose signal. The radio did it once in the last 9 months and I can't figure out how it worked that one time. Any help?

I hesitate going to the dealership because I've had my car coded so I don't want to lose all those features.

I don't see how it could timeshift if it lost the signal in a tunnel, but maybe I'm not understanding what you mean by timeshift. Whatever was broadcast while you are in the tunnel can not be retrieved once you are out of the tunnel.

What I was referring to was the tunnel is about 300 feet long... I was assuming the time shift would record the last minute or so when I lost the signal, I would still have the radio playing. Not sure what the time-shift is for if it doesn't record. Is it perhaps only for rewinding?

It can only record when it is getting a signal, it's not magic, i.e., it cannot record what it is not receiving.

Time-shift is mainly for pausing when you have a satellite signal, e.g., you could be listening to a talk show and pause it for any number of reasons (take/make a phone call, talk to your passenger, get rid of distractions in heavy traffic, etc.) and then pick-up where you paused it without losing any of the conversation.
