E70 at the dealer with few issues

I had an issue where there was excessive cabin noice while driving especially under 30mph. Had it serviced and dealer said it was normal. It drove me nuts for a while. I finally asked the dealer to have one of the tech take a quick drive to describe the noise. Sure enough the tech agreed on the low pitch noise. He thinks it a hole in the firewall that is causing the engine or outside noise to come in.

So far its on the shop for 2 days and they are still yet to identify the issue. They did however find a small oil leak by the engine. Not sure yet where exactly.

Its a 2008 CPO with 43k miles. Original warranty expires in August. Does anyone here had any this kind of issue? It seems the oil leak is common. I just hope this is not a headache waiting to happen in the future.

Thans

My wife has a 2012 X5 and we had similar issues. Long story short...it turned out to be the passenger side rear seat wasn't latched all the way down. We've has full size people who sat there and never even noticed or felt the seat being unlatched down all the way. We simply pushed it back with some force and clicked in. ......and yes the little clicks I was hearing eveytime I drove over a uneven surface was insane. GL with you issue.

Carfax was clean. I am investigating that now. Hopefully they can give me some more information on what is wrong with it.

Update.

Noise was from a bearing in the alternator. After being in the shop for 3 days. The following were done.

Alternator
Water pump
PVC hoses due to oil.
Belts etc.

Thank goodness original warranty is still active. Make me question reliability for major parts to fail at only 43k on it.

Hope this is the last one.

I think I am having a similar problem, did it almost sound like there was an artificial engine/exhaust sound coming from behind the firewall. I'm pretty sure there was not active sound on 2007 x5 but I could imagine that it might sound similar (sarcasm). It almost sounds like I am playing a video game when driving (the sound that is). Going to probably take it to the stealer on monday, although I am out of warranty but have an extended warranty that covers most things.

Yes, it mimics engine speed/rpm. It's my wife DD and I noticed it like 2 weeks ago when i drove it and she said she couldn't here anything but last night she came home and said the engine or transmission was really loud.

Water pump replaced, noise gone. Thank goodness for extended warranty. Let's see what fails next month.
