The e70 has aged pretty well. The fact that all the engines were significantly refreshed helped out tremendously, imo. I always figured I would pick up a pre-owned e70 at some point, but I will have to say, the MDX has moved up a few notches on my list and may end up making the decision a little harder when that time comes.

I have both the E70 and MDX (wife's) and although the MDX is a fine car, and much cheaper...the X5 is far more refined. The MDX feels cheap and the technology is a mess...way too many buttons and lights.

When we travel together with the family, the X5 is always the first choice.

BTW- we both had 2007 models (MDX and X5) and we both upgraded (2011 MDX and 2013 X5) so we have over 5 years driving both vehicles.

This is good info coming from someone who has owned both. I will have to drive an MDX when the time comes just to see what its like. I was really unhappy with the reliability of our e53 and it really doesn't seem the e70 is that much better. Figured if the wife was driving it, the MDX should be more reliable and we should be able to get a newer one with less miles than a comparable used e70.

I test drove the JX and really really wanted to like it.

But at the end of the day, it just doesn't drive well. Yes, the interior is nice, yes it's comfy, yes it's pricing is great......... But it doesn't handle well, the CVT is AWFUL, more body roll than a 1978 GMC station wagon, and the engine feels bogged down.

It's a Frankenstein of Nissan parts jammed together in an attempt to compete w/ the MDX, and it fails.

If Infiniti can make the driveability of the vehicle on par with the interior quality/comfort, they will have a home run. Until then, I'd pass (I got the X5 instead)

I tested the Q5,
I tested the Q7,

I tested the LR4,

X5 is still at the top of my charts.

Doesn't surprise me who they chose as #1--they always will go with the car that hits the majority of the target market of consumers and that's the daily easy driver, medium cost and decent MPG. BMW is all about performance.

Infiniti JX just came in the market while current generation X5 and MDX are in their last year, and therefore its not really a good comparison. Will see in 12 months when 3rd gen X5 is out.

I know styling is subjective thing, but IMO none of hte other three are as good looking as the X5.
