Combox + 6NR = Internet in your car!

Hello guys,

As a sponsor on xoutpost.com, just wanted to share some neat features we can add on your X5

What is the "Combox"?

Combox controller is the integration between TCU, ULF and iPod/iPhone interface, and allow you to have following features :
  • Bluetooth integration
  • Bluetooth Audio
  • Album Art Covers
  • Office menu
  • Internet
  • BMW Live - News, Weather, Google Local Search, Panoramio, Street View, Local applications, Web browser

BMW announced that all new vehicles from March 2011 will come with the new feature called "ConnectedDrive"

ConnectedDrive (6NR)
will intergrate your iPhone/iPod features in the BMW iDrive system, and allow you to have following features :
  • BMW Apps - Facebook, Twitter, Webradio, Pandora, Calendar and more
  • BMW Plugin - changes the iDrive screen to the same look and feel as the iPod function on an iPhone.
It allows you to take advantage of all the iPod features (Genius, album art, compiling playlists, etc) that are not available via the basic USB connection.
With future iPhone software updates, new features will also be available in the car. An additional benefit comes in the way of increased interface speed
  • Video playback - enables video playback from the iPhone/iPod
  • DVD/Video/Plugin-in-motion activation

Any questions?

Feel free to contact me for more information : [email protected]

* Few shots of Combox + 6NR in Action!

If I already have an OEM rear view camera, can I upgrade to your multimedia kit and camera to get a better picture?

Hello,

Yes, that's possible, but you need to uninstall your current OEM kit first.

Thanks
Kris

Nice stuff...but hopefully the driver isn't ogling GOOG, reading album covers or perusing one's Flickr site, while he/she is boogieing down the highway.

I guess just 'driving' the car, and looking out the window(s) with an occasional glance at the mirrors, is just so 'yesterday' and low tech.

^^ agree ^^

To all that have tvs and video game systems in the back for their kid, are you serious as a parent?! As if they don't already get enough tv and video games at home, they need to do that in the car too? If you rather have electronic gadgets raising your kids, then please, you really should not have any kids.

Way too many distractions as is..now we have to have Internet in the car.
I hope none of it works while in motion. I don't want some a55hole, who's interested in what their college friend of 10 years ago is doing at the zoo with their 5 yr old, to plow head on into my daughter or son. Because it was soooo f'ing important to "like" the attached picture. I see it every day to and from the office, and it pi55es me off.
Rant over, and sorry for the high jack.
