Idea to keep wheels from getting stolen. I have 1 to start

So I have never used locks on my wheels because I don't normally have my car parked where it would be likely to be a target. That's not to say I don't expect to get eyed as a potential victim anyhow.

One trick that might help keep your wheels "safer" is to turn your front wheels as far as possible to the left or right. This makes getting tools into the front wheels much more difficult.

unfortunately if somebody wants your rims, the angle of the wheels will not stop them. It might make the job a bit tougher but that won't stoop them.

Yep, it might actually incur suspension damage on top of the missing rims. Bad idea.

Curbing the wheels is to make the car less attractive as a target not prevent anything. If I can get them to move to the next car I accomplished what I wanted.

Highly unlikely that there's another X5 with the same set of rims parked next to yours. If they really want the rims off your X5, what makes you think the Toyota in the next spot will change their mind?

I guess it would depend on what wheels they want... again my point was to deter not prevent.

The best and free deterrent would be to park it in a well lit and high foot traffic block.

Either that or this
