It's not tuned any different that I know of than a standard 35i--same engine, exhaust set-up.

The question is why don't I..LOL I just got a 2013 X6 with the M performance package and it came with the standard muffler. I've put up a few posts asking for sound clips of an X5 M sport 35i. Is there anyway you can youtube a startup and rev? I would have to buy the muffler and I'm a bit on the fence about it. Any feedback? Is it at all annoying while accelerating to hear the "throatier" note? (do you tire of it at all?) Thanks for any feedback. Good luck with the car. I'm sure you'll love it. BMW materials only show black chrome tips as part of the performance pack, not a performance muffler. Based on the price of the upgrade, this is most certainly true.

Is it really a 'performance' muffler, or is the passenger side just open all the time. For example, the standard cars have the vacuum operated passenger side exhaust that opens under heavier throttle.
I've thought a couple of times of zip tyeing it open all the time to see how it sounds and if it makes any difference on mileage.
