Hey guys I am about to the order my new x5 and want to know if anyone here has active cruise control and lane departure... if so how is it?-Thanks

I had the lane change warning on an '08 550i. It was a neat feature but not needed unless you are prone to nodding off when driving.
It worked very well. As soon as crossing either line in your lane, the wheel vibrated. I would not want a system that tries to correct your direction. This doesn't, only a warning. One side effect is forcing you to signal a lane change. If you don't do that, don't get lane change warning, or you'll just turn it off. Same if you have a habit of cutting corners on a twisty road. One thing it does is remember your setting every start. Turn it off and it will stay off.

I have active cruise and would not order a car without it. Use it constantly and it is fantastic. Only mild annoyance is that it defaults to "4 bars" of distance between you and the car in front of you, and I always click the switch up three times to shorten the distance to "1 bar" of distance, which I find to be plenty of space between my car and the car in front of me.

Otherwise it is terrific and really allows you to use cruise control more often because you don't have to "tinker" with the speeds at all if someone slows down temporarily in front of you.

Do you have issues with Active Cruise slowing you down if you catch a vehicle in another lane in a curve? I've followed BMWs that slow down when passing another car and wondered if it was the ACC.

Yes, sometimes it will slow down if there is a car in the left lane and they turn into a right hand turn before you start turning the wheel. However, if you are turning the wheel into the turn as well then it doesn't slow down.

I guess the theory is "better safe than sorry."
