I was planning a long trip to the lake house this weekend, now I'm going to have to take the daily driver (Prius). I was looking forward to drive the X but I don't want to take the risk!

Sorry for the late reply, the x5 passed recall test and the noise I was hearing is the sump pump, it does this every so many miles the service manager told me! Thats what they told me, the car has been fine so far!

Sounds pretty wrong but why don't you use your cell phone to record a video of the sound so that others on here can help guide you. My 2012 X5d only has 1,200 miles but I've not heard anything like what you have described occurring on my truck
