Akebono brake pads/centric rotors

Hello ALL,

I noticed tire rack have these for sale for my 07 4.8 non sport. Has anyone used them on there x5 yet. I used this exact combo on my 330i zhp and i could not believe how little dust they made. I am thinking about giving them a try any thoughts??

I've not tried these on the X, but my previous car (Infiniti G37 Sport) came with Akebono calipers and pads from factory. They were incredible with low dust and low noise. The stopping power was adequate as well with minimal fade.

I would double check the pad size and pad shape to make sure they are correct. The front pads on the 4.8 are different shape.

Im Presently using Akebono pads on my 05 4.4. Like many who have used them they seem to grab Less that factory pads but I have no data on stopping distance.

I've been using them on my E39 530i for a few months now, and they started squeaking after the first couple weeks. They do grab a little less as mentioned by others, but the wheels sure do stay clean. I doubt I will get them again though, never had squeaking with the OEMs.

Wait...

Does "Akebono" make ONE PAD COMPOUND for all their pads??????????????

The compound is everything, and unless people know what material they have and identify that in their reports, these anecdotes are useless.

FYI- race pads may exhibit squealing when used for street apps...they need to be hot.

A quick look shows me AK make 5 different pads.

I used to run Carbotech ceramic pads in the past but they do not have them for the M50d, so I went with the new ceramic compound from EBC on the updated RedStuff, but I bought them from Europe, so they are suited for the Autobahn.

I am quite impressed with them, better bite than the OEM or Carbotech pads and no squeal, they have have the anti-squeal back plates attached the same as the OEM'S have.
