Rear Suspension "Deflating" 2007 3.0

Hello,

In the last 2 months my X5's rear suspension has been defalted 4 times. This always happens in the morning. Once I unlock it and open the driver door I can hear the pump turn on and start inflating.

Is this normal? Is this the start of a problem?

Any insight would be appreciated!

J

If you have 3rd row seating you would have self leveling suspension...no?

Yes, this is a $3,000 problem ($1500 per side)
The shock is leaking, and the only solution I found is the dealer to replace the shock at $1500 each.
BTW- it will get progressively worse until it totally collapses and cant be driven.

Mine went out one side at a time. (also a 2007 w/ third row)

2007 3.0 does have self leveling suspension if you have 3rd row only.

If you are CPO it will be coverd, assuming is the same problem I had, both bags replaced just had to pay the $50 bucks deductible . and now they have 2 year warranty in parts and labor

I just went through the same thing, it isn't the shock it is the air springs that are leaking or possibly the compressor valves. Mine had two new bags put in at $488 each and then the compressor at $1,300 luckily it was under warranty.

Get it fixed when the bag collapes and forms a full hole you are stuck, or driving on the shocks only.

I heard there is a conversion kit out there to replace with standard shocks and struts, anyone know about this?

I'm sure there is a kit out there for the E70. Search for Land Rover air suspension replacment. Arnott Industreis comes to mind, they probably have something for the E70 as some older BMW cars had air suspension, Mercedes and most Land Rover vehicles.

Would it be possible to use the standard (non self leveling) springs for the E70 to replace the self leveling airbags?
