July Rockies Mountains trip with X5

Just came back from Rockies mountains, it was really nice trip and want to share some photos, everything went smoothly,
our 12 X5 35i could tow airstream quite well.

Day 1 & 2: Larrabee State Park, WA
Day 3: Dry camping at Jasper Snaring
Day 4: Columbia Icefield
Day 5, 6, 7: Lake Louise
Day 8: Calgary
Day 9: Banff, camping at Yahk provincial park, 10 km to US border.
Day 10: Back home

“I can see Columbia Icefield from my backyard” ---- credit goes to Paulin

great pictures, looks like you had a good time… i am thinking of driving my x5d from vancouver to calgary in a few weeks but i am concerned about getting rock chips in the paint. how was the condition of the highways in british columbia? were there rocks or gravel scattered on the road?
thanks

the road condition is pretty good, we have driven about 2000 miles and didn't realized any major rock chips on the paint.

Great photos! I toured the Canadian Rockies in '99. The most incredible scenery I've ever seen.

Were you actually able to camp in the Icefields parking lot?

Yeah, we parked at Icefields Centre RV, it has quite a lot space but only a few RVs. The night out there was most impressive experience in the trip, the dining view is incredible.

Titz Pics! Very well done, imo.
We were at most of those spots last summer...the CDA Rockies were nearly the highlight of our 13,000 mile trip.
We 'motel'd it', however. Looking to go back.

Nice pictures, and a great trip. We are in Vancouver, have a daughter in Calgary, and drive those roads regularly. I remember camping in Larabee many years back. Good day's drive to Jasper. We were in Calgary two weeks ago and cycled from Canmore to Banff and back. Your pictures bring back the (recent) memories.

Your Airstream looks pretty light, it should tow beautifully.

Sunny: Rocks on the road are fine in summer. No trouble with stone chips. Not so much Oct - April.
