I'm surprised the Canadian CPO warranty does not cover this. It is a rather common issue which indicates definite defect in material/design.
$1500 for this repair is absurd. If the warranty does not cover it, I'd just look for independent service shop to get this done.
Regardless, no one expects to have gasket/seal problems within 4-5 years. In 20+ years of owning various cars, never had a similar issue with any of the components in any cars, until this one.
