Arrow X5 Sales drop by more than 31 per cent in July; YTD sales up

Although the total US sales of BMW increased by 10% over last year, the total X sales slowed down in July as compared to July 2011. Overall year-to-date sales for 2012 have increased though.

I have a friend who owned 2 X5's in a row, but switched to a 2012 Q7
because of the lack of changes in the new X5.
Just my .02

Is this a typical progression for older models. Does anyone know what the curve looks like for sales versus the 7 year life cycle. Does it peak in years 2-3?

Maybe people are buying Cayenne's n the new ML

Actual sales chart for E70 X5 since the beginning.
December 2012 has the peak as BMW offered record deals for purchase of new BMWs to come first in "Best US luxury car sales" competition. That combined with X5 and X5 35d deals helped.

The other peak is December 2007; new X5 combined with Christmas /year-end deals. It will be competition again this year in December as so far Mercedes-Benz is ahead in sales.

I would feel the same way BUT you would have changes from model to model. 2007 would be all-new, 2010 would be new Idrive and Xdrive model name plus redesigned comfort seats and expanded options and 2013 would be the LCI model....

I would probably struggle with the 2010 more then the 2013

I had a 2007 and a 2010 and decided to go with something else instead of leasing another E70 (went with ML63). I'll be looking at the next X5 in 2.5 years - by then hopefully the first year issues will have worked themselves out.

I had an '01, '04 and '08 then went '12 Q5 prem+ last year. Part of it was trying something new, part of it was price, part of it was my company at the time was part of the Audi supplier program and I got a sick deal on the Audi, part of it was the Audi gets significantly better MPG and my round trip commute was 90 miles a day.
