Recall Letter - Diesel (09, 10, 11)

I received a recall letter from BMW this morning, its related to EGR (?) or something.

Anybody else got the letter?

Got it too!

Interesting that I already had a number of related components replaced earlier this year. Taking it for service in a month, will see if anything extra/additional needs to be done.

FYI- Previously I had a bunch of stuff done to fix multiple failures...ultimately BMW issued a recall that duplicated the fixes that were done on my car. However, I still got a recall notice and they had to go ahead and redo it all...just no mechanism for them to look at thay level of detail: here is the recall; here are the VINS affected; we must do Procedure A on VIN list B.

Figured... Although my parts are relatively "new" and proven to work so far (5000 miles and counting)... Concerned that they might swap them for less reliable ones

I wonder if they just replace them with parts just as bad (i.e. will need replacement again), or with improved ones - similar to what was known as HPFP failures on N52 engines.

My dad got a notice, about 2 days after he dropped the car off for service because his SES light was illuminated.......AGAIN (it's a Monday car, no doubt). No idea if the recall issue is what tripped the light in the first place, and although I'm sort of interested to see if it's the same issue, it's not my vehicle so I'm not gonna dig into it.

Got mine yesterday as well and agree with your comments on potentially replacing with lesser quality parts. No issues so far and just had regular service som I may just wait as long as I can before taking it in for this.

Recall - programming

I was in last week for scheduled oil/DEF service and they indicated that a reprogramming was required....didn't mention it as a recall. It was to take 4+ hours to do, yet I couldn't wait.......scheduled to take back tomorrow AM.....

Will post what they did......I've already had EGR cooler replaced.....
