Got my 3rd rear tire replaced in 2 years under BMW Tire Warranty

But I'm in a bit of a dilemma. They can only replace what was on there which is the Dunlop Sport Maxx 20s--I only have about 4K miles left on all 4 (have 20K miles on them now) and was going to switch to the Bridgestone Duelers in a couple months. Not sure if I should try and work around getting now 3 new Dunlops somehow since this tire is effectively about $550 that I am getting. Or just scrap that idea and just get the 4 new Duelers in a couple months. Thoughts ?

Take it to a tire shop and get it patched and then get the tires you want when it is time.

Well it's already at the dealer--I waited for it today there but they didn't have the tire in stock. I had an appointment already scheduled this Monday anyways for some service like rear brakes, brake flush and couple little issues so they said they will just keep it, gave me an '12 5 Series loaner and said they will put the tire on it on Monday and then do the rest of the service.

I think you've answered your own question.

I agree with Chuck's advice...

The deal you make withe the devil/dealer when you buy that warranty is "I will always use the same tires".

Tire is free, put it on. Buy 4 new tires. You will not have a BMW tire warranty on those new tires I assume. (since they are not an OE tire for that rim, correct?)

You could save the old, good tire as an emergency spare, or sell it...

No, the Dueler RFTs are OEM along with the Sport Maxx (there are some 214 style rims with the Duelers on them out there)--so, the warranty still applies (have 3 years left on it). I am 99% sure I will just get all 4 new Duelers in a couple months. Yes, you put the same tire on it but I don't see any disadvantage in that even in this case scenario (of about to change to a different tire) it's not "costing" me anything theoretically.

Bridgestone Dueler Sports for 20" wheels? If so, getting 40k seems impressive.

Talked to my SA just now about the Tire Warranty--you can put anything on there as long as it's not some weird off-brand or if you mod it. He said Bridgestone's and Dunlop's are OEM so those are covered and you can even do Michelin, Continental, etc.
