Spartenburg delivery

We are contemplating buying a new X5 and after my recent experiences with the local dealer in Ft Lauderdale with trying to buy an 09, we may just buy a new one.
I'd like to buy the car away from here...has anyone bought a car from a dealer near the factory and taken delivery there?
Do you still pay a delivery charge, because that would cover the transportation, hotel and return drive to South FL.

All X5s, and now the current model X3 (as well as the Z4) are built in Spartenburg SC.

I did it 3 years ago. http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...g-cmyx6go.html

It was a blast. You pay the delivery charge but it includes transport to the hotel, one night stay, dinner, breakfast, transport to the plant and the days activities. You just have to pay the airfare to get there and then drive your new ride home. I highly recommend it.

You don't have to buy it from a dealer near the plant, you can buy it from any dealer anywhere and just ask for Performance Center Delivery.

You can also have any BMW serviced at any BMW dealer. Some give priority to customers who bought a car there however.

Z4 production was moved to Regensburg about 4 years ago.

The best part of the 'activities' is the performance center driving. Wet skid-pads, cones, water walls, high speed....all in (not your) BMW's!

there are some X5s made from KDKs in Kaliningrad, Russia. When I was checking out new X5 in Moscow, it was clear that X5s for russian domestic market were russian assembled but a dip sale X5 would have been US assembled...

Aren't some 3's made in China??

Viperfreak2 is correct. While you are at it, make sure you do a factory tour. Always interesting.
