Need RFT.. it's the family hauler (and no, I don't want a mini-spare 5 hours from civilization).

So is that hitch OEM from factory w special bumper
or do the cut it and cap it ?

Cut it and cap it at the dealer. The 'factory' does not do hitches on X5's (yet).

Mounted our Yakima Rocketbox 12 (cubic feet capacity) on BMW cross bars (base system).

A little whistle above 70mph, but can barely hear it with sun-shade closed.

Solid as a rock for 400 miles at up to 90mph.

(mounted slightly off center due to the placement of the little wind spoilers that were attached to the BMW cross bars. No worries -looks fine.)
