Yea buy the "cheap chinese crap"... lol make up your mind.

I just bought lux's 2 weeks ago, and they are worth every penny and come with a 1 year warranty. Even though they said out of stock when I ordered them they were at my house within a week. Very good customer service no complaints so far.

While the physical design might look similar to LUX H8 V3's there are some things you should know about them

- The power supply is not fused at all. in case of a power surge or other failure of the unit it could very easily short out causing electrical damage, or even melt itself causing significant damage inside the headlight compartment

- These units never run at full brightness, and dim to 1/3 total power when the headlights turn on. While being rated at 1500 lumen these product at best 230-250 lumen while the headlights are on. The brightest they measured them was at 550 - 580 lumen.

- No EMI Protection which means there could be significant radio interference.

LUX H8 V3 LED Angel eyes do Not dim, are fully fused and protected, and do not produce EMI. just make people aware of what they are looking into buying and be aware of the potential dangers with these.

Radio interference and TPMS errors have been caused by the off-branded ones and they have no warranty. Some don't have any issues. Choice is yours.

how come some LUX V3 pics have the outer rings dimmer but these don't? In person, are all 4 rings the same brightness from every angle? Strange since other camera pics don't show that.

If you look closely, you will notice that the outer rings are in fact not as bright as the inner rings, its because of the way BMW designed those rings..

Quality of those LUX are top notch... I inspected it before Baron and Juan installed it on Ms car, passed my QA at least, lol...

Like Jay said, the outer rings are not as bright as the inner. They match the same brightness as the OEM bulbs, just these are white, not orange. They are not going to match the 2013 LED AEs that we drool over, but they are damn close and a HUGE improvement over the OEM orange.

blue dragon will become famous soon enough
But the Lux angel eyes are made in China same as any of the cree LEDs. I'm not commenting on the quality, just saying that there are other that don't have any emi, are just as bright etc.

You are aware that the FRM will shut down a light if the power/voltage to it spikes, similar to what has been happening with some tailights when water gets in.

And Real Apple iPhone's and the fake iPhones are both made in China.... Are they the same to you as well? Whats your point, It's not about where it's produced, its about the company producing it and running the show (R&D, Quality control, and Customer Service). Knock-offs are knock-offs, go for them if you want no support from the supplier, no warranty, and no clue if it will melt your car to the ground the next time you drive it. Who knows if by the time the FRM realizes the issue if it is too late to save your headlight from possible damage.

but thats the way I see it. Lux is top dog for a reason, and not just developing the brightest LED angel eye available but supporting it (pre/post sale) as well. If your headlight is damaged buy a lux product I bet they would be more than willing to come to a reasonable solution with you.

Just find your original response in this thread very hypocritical after telling me not to get cheap chinese crap for my car yesterday lol...

Still wanna save 150 bucks on the knock-offs or feel good about giving credit where credit is due and buying from the developer.

Do it! You will not regret it I'm woking on a pair of custom headlights for my X now, and trying HID angel eyes But I'm closing off the clear lens, so it does not disturb oncoming traffic, and to give it the facelift LED look The rest will be matte or gloss black, no grey or chrome! And gloss black indicator housing, with super bright GT-Thunder LED indicators, so it will not be dim I also ordered E46 Facelift smoked LED sidemarkers, But I thing I will need a resistor

Come on, its not anything as complex as an iPhone, which is only manufactured in China, but the design, engineering and support is done in the US.

Lux was the first to establish a market, but the others are in no way knock offs. Look at the MTEC bulbs which are brighter than Lux with no EMI. Look at the 20W cree LEDs again, which are brighter than Lux.

The only reason Lux prices were that high were because they were the only product at the time. It is no way a reflection of the engineering/maufacturing cost. MTEC is a bigger company than LUX, and now there are other alternatives that sell for $85 per pair on Ebay and come with a warranty as well. I'l take my chances there. An LED is an LED, the resistors and simple circuit to make things error free are not hard to design or exclusive to LUX.

The exact same thing happend with the CCFL or LED rings for the E46. First they were over $200, then when the competition came, they were $99.

Its your money, spend it as you see fit (including buying those LED strips you wanted)
