I have no real intention of purchasing an extension on the warranty. As ard mentioned there is no awesome 6 month option.

I pick the car up this afternoon. Apparently some work was done, my sa was rather vague in the vmail. I will let everyone know how it turns out.

And I'm not interested in getting into a 2013 x5. Two e70s was plenty for me great car but I might as well wait for the 3rd generation if I want another x!

Just got the car back. They claim.

Performed vehicle test, had mixture fault at cylinder 6 not current. Test plan said no fault. Found (Diagcode110_B0000000_72_901) Let vehicle sit and get cold, restarted, CEL comes back on. Performed another vehicle test, test plan said to replace low pressure sensor, which is part of the fuel line. While removing air filter housing the EVAP hose broke, as well as the firewall bulkhead broke into many pieces.

Parts: Fuel feed line, Two connecting lines, Partition engine bay, partition engine, bulkhead engine, hose clamp.

To make matters worse when I took my car back I left and went to grab a sandwich to go at a local coffee spot, leaving my boxer in the back seat with the car to keep her warm. When I return she is up against the window with her eyes pouring tears, so much so that I initially thought she went pee. Then almost immediately my eyes became irritated and I could smell some sort of fumes coming into the cabin. I drove back to the dealer promptly and they told me it was no big deal and that they must have spilled some coolant in the engine bay during the work. This normally burns off as you drive and is not harmful.

A) They should have informed me so I did not have to put my dog in that situation.

B) Since when is inhaling burnt coolant (glycol) not harmful?

Your dog will eat its own crap, sniff more ass than Wilt the Stilt, roll around on dead animals, and finish off a nice meal of its own vomit with a couple of swigs of toilet water and you're offended it had to smell some coolant? Sorry about your troubles, but I'll bet that somewhere out there on the interwebs there is a BMW SA telling an equal but opposite story about you.

Yeah it's about 75 miles away in Rochester. Unfortunately the dealership I have dealt with on all prior bmws was sold, which is the dealer in Rochester.

Actually, You might be eligible to turn the car early and flip it for another one.

Supposedly BMW incentives are going to kick in soon and will be very aggressive. They already had that 2 or 3 month payment thing where you turn in your old for a new, and they cover the last few months of your old lease.

I've tried negotiating trading in my 07 4.8 for a 335is, but the payment and negative equity hit I'd take just didn't make sense at the time. But, I assure you, I'll be keeping an eye out over the next couple of months.

So after dealing with awful fumes for a week, under the advisement of my SA, I brought my x5 back in to ask how long this "coolant burn off" should take. He then proceeded to send another tech out to see my vehicle, which had been running in the lot for about 5 minutes. The tech sat in the car, said wow that is awful... it burns my eyes. They then took my car back in again. I called the SA back ten minutes later to assure that he noted on the work order the tech's exact words 'me eyes burned", so as not to confuse my complaints with a mere odor, but actual chemical fumes of some sort. He said yeah they think they figured it out already, it was a small fuel leak!

Great so after you told me, and put in writing, that my concerns regarding fumes were unwarranted you tell me that it was a fuel leak I was inhaling all week! Unreal. I have been documenting the process over the last week with bmw NA customer service, but have not heard from them yet today. Tomorrow the dealership is going to see a completely different side of me, with a lawyer, regardless of what it costs me.

Intense, man. Sorry a bastard of a vehicle is causing so much trouble for you. Makes it not worth it, huh? I'd sue for damages, pain and suffering, or whatever for them not catching a FUEL LEAK. That's huge. That's why cars are deemed a total loss, or have a massive repair bill, when in an accident and there is damage to the fuel tank and/or fuel delivery system.

Fuel issues are no joke when it comes to insurance companies, rightfully so. One small leak could turn into a 75mph ball of fire on the highway. Not cool.

Good luck with the lawyer situation, I think this situation calls for some sort of compensation from the dealer. It's like your dealer is the plastic surgeon who put cement in the lady's T&A instead of silicon; malpractice.

Of course, the above is all in my UNprofessional opinion.
