Year? Model? Engine? For E70

Hey Guys
I'm in the market to get a a E70. I wanted your opinion on what engine, packages, and year. I know with most vehicles, you shouldn't get the first year it was in production due to bugs. I was thinking 09-10 year, either a 3.0 gas or diesel? Whats the ups and downs of both engines. I do mostly city driving and occasional highway. What packages should i be willing to pay for and which ones i should avoid. I have a 2002 X5 3.oi, and love it.
Thanks for your feedback

You do know that you are, essentially, asking folks to summarize the last 4 years of posts for you....

Realize that your question will likely not get wide responses and then only a few folks will chime in with their personal biases.... why not search for the 176 other "I'm thinking of buying a used X5, what should I buy?" threads and see what the collective responses have been?

I am not being a dcik, this is just the most efficient way for YOU.

I'd buy the newest diesel you can afford, ideally with a 100k warranty unless you are a pretty talented DIYer or have a good indy.
