Question Glovebox panel removal help for CIC retrofit

I'm in the process of retrofitting CIC into my e70. One of the pieces to the puzzle is introducing a usb input in the glovebox for the CIC hard drive.

This requires unassembling the 3 panels inside the glovebox. It's a three step process with removing the plastic back piece, removing the inner/bottom felt tray piece, and they the upper felt piece.

I can get the intial plastic back piece out, but am having no progress with getting the second bottom felt tray out from the bottom. I can pry it open from the sides but it won't come up. It won't budge. Anyone who's messed about with the glovebox know how to get this out?

The usb input adapter I received does not seem to fit directly with the new felt piece. Anyone run into the same problems?
