Need advice...
The Service Advisor apologized and offered to paint it ! I was like, No, it's a 2011 factory Y-Spoke rim that is load-bearing, so he's gonna replace that one. The upper control arm appeared intact without any visible scratch or damage. So my question is should I be concerned about anything else ? I'm just shocked the kid could not tell the old set was staggered or bother to read the tires (275 front) and 315 rears ?! Are there only two models that come staggered in 20's ? X5 and M5 or M6 ? Thanks PS If I could do it all over again, I would have gone to a non-staggered All-Season set-up, less PITA! |

many high-optioned BMWs come with staggered tires from the factory, the E39 M5 was - so for a dealer to fail to properly train its employee is unexcusable... the dealer should be insured against such an event and if he is not, it is too bad - they owe you a new wheel... if there is nothing else damaged, you should be fine, this incident should be logged in the notes though - in case if later, down the road something develops in the upper control arm, you might have an argument with the BMW NA...

Thanks for the info.
I actually took the X5d in for two recalls, so that made it more painful. But they should have a new rim on tomorrow. I got a X3 loaner, the new automatic shut-off (fuel conservation at stop-lights) is an annoying option to always turn off. I'll try to post something if I notice anything with the recalls. Software update...diesel specific on one of them. Emissions issue again ? |

After picking up the car I would take it to an independent tire shop and have them check everything. If your local BMW service dealer is that incompetent, I would have someone else double check their work.

I think you need to find yourself another BMW dealer.
