new x5 and rattling
After owning the car for awhile i noticed a loose screw sound from the the middle console Every time I stop or accelerate there is a loose screw or something rattling around ( Talking about irritating). I have finally had it. Since my car is out of Warranty I decided to fix this my self of at least investigate to see what the problem was. After looking around on the forum i ran into a couple of removal guides. Here is mine. Here is were i pried the plastic trim off with my screw driver. After removing the trim with the idrive knob attached there where 5 screws (T30) i removed to get to where the noise was. Removal of the 5 screws and lifting the shifter out After the shifter out I saw the problem a coin has rolled into a groove. The flashlight is pointhing to where the coin was. The shiny object in the middle is the penny to get to the coin i put a piece of tape around my finger and fished it out. Here is the pic with the penny stuck to the tape. Boy this was a pian but it was easy enought to do. The one thing that stood out to me since I have the newer idrive system is that i did not need to remove the knob, other that that it was a piece of cake. I hope this helps someone else out. |
