Very cool. I've driven all of that aside from the Ice Road many times, but never in an X5.

Dear All -
Last Saturday I completed my PO2BS overland expedition. While it was the endpoint of this epic journey, it was a bitter sweet moment arriving home. There was the joy of having made the approx 7000 miles / 11250 km within three weeks without any major nor minor issues, being able to sleep in your own familiar bed again, enjoying your big screen TV. But there was also sadness that I now will enter normal life again, regular driven activities, no thrill what might be waiting for me around the next corner ... This journey was a mix of pushing the limits - my own, the one of my car, of my equipment, but also of my mind being most of the time by myself ... Some folks might say, this was a trip caused by a mid-life crisis or something like that ... Some folks called me crazy for actually even trying it ... There have been a lof of folks advising me not to do this trip in an "unreliable" BMW X5, but rather a pick-up truck ... But my El Toro Azul treated me as I treated him - with respect and comfort and not pushing the ultimate limits! It was a wonderful ride! To close this chapter, may I quote good old Ernie. “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” ― Ernest Hemingway Stefan on tour http://www.facebook.com/PO2BS |

I went through your blog a few days ago. Impressive! Looks like you had a blast. Many of us are envious of the time and balls you had to complete that journey.
Joke you treat el toro azul with a nice detailing session very soon ![]()

This deserves a bump.
If I ever hit the lottery get that 911, I’ve always thought I would buy it in anchorage and drive it home. Summer time of course!
