Dvd Drive Very Noisy !!

Hi guys, I have a 2009 3.0i and was having a problem with my dvd drive at times not being able to see the nav disc. So I would eject the disc and then pop it back in. That seemed to work. So on my next visit to the Dealer I complained about it and after they checked it, they came back and told me that the the Dvd Drive needed to be replaced. Since it is under warranty, I said fine. Now the new Drive it's extremely noisy or I should say loud. You could actually hear it with the engine off the minute you get in the car and with the engine on after you start the car. Have to turn the radio on so I don't have to hear it. Dealer says it's normal....My question is, are your dvd/nav drives loud or is mine acting up ??

Is the dvd disc you have authentic? I noticed when I use a burnt copy, the drive is much more noisy, but with the authentic disc, it is super quiet...

dealer is full of... the drive is noisy because something is out of whack inside... ask him to hear the same noise from other cars... who knows, maybe he is right...

Agree with you !! So I went back there today and spoke with SA manager about the noise on my nav drive. His answer was, well all BMW do that since the disc it's constantly running. I said that, on my friends X5 the nav drive it's very quiet. Then he goes, well yours does it more because of the new drive that was installed and that the newer style drives are louder than the old style ones At that point I said, well then I need my old drive back. So I have an appt for the 7th. Let see what are they going to come up with......
