Depends on the pricing at your specific dealer.
Here is what it would cost at my dealer, CDN $ is at par with the US $ at the moment. $1091 for pads, rotors, wear sensors, shop supplies, and labour, all OE parts (taxes not included).

^^ Those prices look reasonable for a BMW dealer.
OP, the answer will be MUCH higher in SoCal. I am guessing 700-1000 per axle. Rule of thumb is that the SA sizes you up and trying to guess how much they can get you for.... Personally I just did our old MDX for $140 front pads and rotors, and 2 hours. I am trying to teach my son how to do this stuff so with the money he saves on maintenance he can afford nice cars. ![]() A |

Very interested in the DIY as well, as it'll be helpful for folks who will want to change them out after the maintenance coverage. I know we have the E53 DIY but good to have the nuance for the E70.

Wow, for $1,000 I will put new pads, wear sensors and wash your truck. I cannot see this being more than $300 in parts and 3-4 hours labor.

I just replaced my front brakepads more than a week ago.All you need is a hex bit to remove the brake calipers and a C clamp to press the brake caliper piston. It was pretty straightforward. I used akebono pads since it has good reviews at Tirerack. I haven't washed the car for almost a week and my front wheels are still clean (no dust). I use to clean my wheels every other day. I spent $87 for the pads and $28 for the OEM brake sensor. I didn't replace the rotors yet since they're still within spec. And those prices includes shipping already.

^^^ Thanks, that's good to know.
I have gone DYI on brakes on my previous cars, and see no reason to pay someone $1,500. The only problem would be resetting the computer. How is it done? Automatically? |
