2007 4.8 x5 rough idle, check engine light, Shaking!!UPDATED

Hello guys, hope you all have a nice day! So long story short:

My car: 2007 4.8 x5 with only 62,000 km. Bought it certified and it still has the certified warranty coverage. I drive it daily for about 35 km one way, roughly about 70 km total. Yes I use Shell V Power only and just changed engine oil about 3,500 km ago. I do oil change every 6,500 km.

This morning when I started the engine, it was shaking so bad that cased the entire car to shake with it! The check engine light blinked for couple times and then stayed on. I had to step out of the car cause I really thought the engine would explode. After 1 min warm up, it still sounded like a Heavy Bike "TU TU TU TU" instead of the usual smoothness in the summer. I drove it for a bit and still the problem was there.

During the past two months, I've been hearing loud ticking sound from the engine when it was started after an over night parking, loud and clear, sounds like lifters, but I'm not sure.

Now the check engine light is on and I'm going to stealer tomorrow. I just want to know if there is someone who had the same problem with his/her X5 4.8? What was the solution? I thought about spark plugs, but would it be too soon to change the spark plugs? And what are other possible reasons/solution for this problem? Thank you very much for your input.

If it's still under warranty, I'd take it in to the dealer and have a professional do the diagnosis. Even with the OBDII codes (which have limited value because BMW uses their own set of internal codes), you may not be able to figure out exactly what's wrong without additional tests.

And I wouldn't mention you've been hearing loud clear ticking sounds for the last two months either...........

Why on earth would you not get it checked out sooner?????

The ticking is not good obviously. Vanos , throttle body actuator or if the car shakes and sounds like ass it could be your timing chain guides. When loose you will hear the chain which could be your ticking noise and when the guide/guides break then you will get a very rough idle and it will run like crap or sometimes not at all.

This is from recall or experiences recently in friends cars. Glad not mine

Let us know.
