Help Me Decide on 2nd Set of Wheels!

I want to buy a 2nd set of high quality aftermarket 19" wheels. I definitely do not want a cheap set of wheels and I don't want to buy BMW factory wheels either (too much $$$) - I want something with a decent price and I want a nice looking wheel and I want a high quality wheel.

Any thoughts?

My plan is to leave the Vredestein Wintrac tires currently on my original Style 335 wheels and pickup another set of 19's for summer tires - which are Vredestein Ultrac SUV Sessantas. BTW, I love Vredestein tires

Background:

I want two sets of 19" wheels that I will install summer tires on one set and winter tires on the 2nd set.

OK, here is the choice I have come to:

A) I found a second set of mint Style 335 wheels - $850.00 Delivered (used but mint condition). With Option A I would have two sets of 19" BMW Style 335 wheels (one for winter and one for summer).

Here is my X5 with the current set of 19" 335 wheels. The tires on these rims currently are Vredestein Wintrac 4 Xtremes (which I am in love with). The tires puctured were the original run flats (good riddance).



B) Avant Garde M310 Hyper Silver 19" Wheels

The wheel in the picture is probably a 21" or 22" whereas mine will be measly little 19's - so keep this in mind!

The Avant Garde M310 Wheel - $1,000 delivered




C) Avant Garde M368 19" Wheels - $1,100 delivered

Again, the wheel in the picture are much larger than the 19s I would be getting, but hopefully you can envision this wheel in a 19 inch

Why not get 20s? The staggered 20s look great on that X....

I love the look of 20s - undeniably great looking on the X5!

However, I kinda like the strengths brought by the 19s:

1) 19s are probably more comfortable than 20s
2) The 19s probably handle better than 20s (everything else equal)
3) In my case, I drive in the mountains allot in the winter (ie, snow, ice,etc) and 19" snows are better (more traction - safer) than 20" snows (assuming the 19s are also narrower than 20s - mine are)
4) Fuel economy is better on 19s
5) Tread life better on 19s? Don't know about that one

Let me see - what else - oh yeah - if I went with 20s for summer tires then I would want the wheel arches and then when I switched back to 19s in the winter the 19s would look lame sitting inside the wheel arches.

So, all in all the 19s offer advantages for me at the expense of the more aggressive/beefy look of the 20s.

But, I still want my X to look as nice as possible!

Replicas come in 9.5" and for winter square set ups are possible as well no need for stagered
4) Fuel economy is better on 19s Maybe slightly depending on weight either way likely not enough to notice
5) Tread life better on 19s? Don't know about that one Nope no different

At the end of the day it's what you want but all of your reasons miss the mark, if you want 19" because you like 19" that's your deal.

Here is how it looks with 20" and no arches it was nice and flush, when I got the 20mm arches I ended up buying 25mm wheel spacers to make it look flush.

I just went through this.. looked at Beyren, was close to buying a set of TSWs, then settled on 20" Eurosport Monzas. I also wanted 19" initially mainly for comfort. I started with 18" RFTs, - with the 20" non-RFTs I feel like the ride is slightly more comfortable. They have a unique, sporty look while (in my opinion) keeping the OEM look. Here are some pics... I love these wheels. Running boards and fender flares on the way.
