No. I damaged the cover gasket- there is a spot where the cover gasket bridges between the valve cover and the timing cover. It looks like a rubber insert- I thought it should be removed and replaced with the valve cover gasket. It turns out the rubber piece was integral to the cover gasket. Cost me a weekend with a wrench to fix it.

I see. thanks for letting me know. I will keep that in mind. Is that piece cheap to replace? If so, I will just buy it and it keep it on hand.

Anything else worth doing while I am in there? Things that this n62 motor is prone to? Another big issue like this and the car is going bye bye

The piece I had a problem with was part of the timing cover gasket- yours is leaking anyway. If you replace the timing cover gasket, it will be part of the job.

Sad part is- this is a small repair- parts are relatively inexpensive. The labor is the killer. I wouldn't consider this a major repair by any stretch.

blue dragon will become famous soon enough
At this point, may as well take it to an indy mechanic if you don't have the time/inclination to fix it.

Oh I will get to it once I am back from vacation. It's like a sore spot that just lingers and it won't go away till the issue is fixed. I love working on my car but I am just a bit disappointed with the reliability steak of this vehicle. maybe it is just my luck..who knows
