Cursed or just bad luck???

Just wanted to post about what bad luck I continue to have with the new LCI X5's. I had a 2011 returned via "BMW buyback" because it was in the shop for 63 days straight with electrical problems(only 4K miles) which BMW was great about and I have no hard feelings. I actually made out on really well on the deal with additional options and they just transfered the Loan on the 2011 to the 2012 with no loan reset.

Now the 2012 that i have has had 3 batteries replaced in 12 months even thought I put it on a BMW charger for 12 hours(sunday to monday) every week(due to driving profile). Took them a few months but that was finally fixed. Now, out of the blue, the wife was turning into the driveway and one of the wheels was shuttering and making crunching sounds. I checked all the lugs on the front, took the wheels off and inspected, bolted everything back on and went for a short drive....aka backed out of the drive way and turned back in with the same results. I then swapped out the 255/19 winters for my 275-315/20 summers and retested. The shuttering was cut in half and the noise was greatly reduced yet still present. Brought it in and just got the call that the transfer case is messed up and I will be getting a new one. It is on order and they will be swapping it out in the near future.

I was told that there are 2 other 750 xdrives in the shop with the same symptoms and getting the same repair. Not sure if they are the same parts but kinda strange.

I really love BMW's but even though BMW has been great on every issue, i may have to think about moving the wife over to a different SAV. There is no way I want to get the even LARGER X5 that comes out next year, I will not get a X3 because it just does not have the options she wants and I don't like Merc's even though I had a few. I hate to say this but the Cayenne will be getting some serious looks in the near future.

Sorry for the rant, I just had to get it off my chest.

blue dragon will become famous soon enough
Wow, thats quite a string of bad luck indeed, even for a "mature" model like the E70

Sorry to hear and I feel the same way regarding reliability on these BMW SAVs. I am military and gone too often to leave my wife with an unreliable (can't even stomach saying this about such a caliber of a car) Daily family ride. I've been to the dealer eight times over the last year and am going to relieve us of this burden as soon as possible.

I feel you buddy. I have had nothing but bad luck with mine too. Have had mine for about a year and a bit and the frequent visits to the dealership is just painful. I am highly considering getting another vehicle but pretty sure it will be my first and last bmw
