I was told to wait until after engine break-in to upgrade. No reason not to listen--I'll just have to hit 1,200 miles faster than I otherwise would have.
Rangefan, what's your reasoning behind getting the 2013 and not waiting for the F15.

My '04 needs some work, and I don't want to put thousands into the car now and then get rid of it. I'm also getting a good number on the trade from the dealer. And I never like owning the 1st model year of any car. Let someone else work out the kinks in their ride. I'll skip that exercise.

My feeling with BMW especially, and this is just my opinion, is that they have pretty much perfected the outgoing model by the last year or 2 of its life. They also add some nice bells and whistles and packages near the end of model life to keep it interesting to the buyer. I think the interior of the F15 looks awesome, and I'm likely going to want many of the gadgets in the car. In time, I'll get them.

I got 10 years out of my 04. It was 'in the shop' only twice in that time. I babied the car, and it rewarded me nicely. Hope the E70 does the same. I pick it up tomorrow. Pictures to follow once the rain stops. But I'm likely going to keep this car for fewer years than my E53. Heck, maybe I'll give it to my son when he heads to college in 6 years and get myself an M somethingorother.

Every point you've made is exactly how I feel. My X has been carefree for me for a good 10 years, it's only been the last 2 years that it connected a wire to our checking acct. and started downloading. Good luck tomorrow, throw some coins in the back of the car from me for luck. I've got an appt with my dealer on Fri.

I got 9 years on my '01 and would have lasted longer until Labor Day '10 when it got totaled in an accident. Take care of them, and they should last.
