I'm still combing the web sites and forums to find out the best sites for E70 parts. This forum is full of helpful members though.

There aren't a lot of parts for the E70. It has the least amount of market shares compared to the cars in BMW's line-up.

What else does option code 226 consist of besides the rear bar?

Unfortunately, I've confirmed that the E70 doesn't have a huge aftermarket following but that's ok. I got a little used to the E9x's aftermarket selection but I had no expectations that I'd see the same with the E70.

That's not why I bought the vehicle. I wanted a fun to drive but good all-around utility vehicle. I had the M3 and an Acura MDX but it was a pita to have two cars and I can only really drive one at a time. After thinking long and hard about staying with the 2 car philosophy, I decided to go back to 1 ride for my dd.

As far as installation goes, a sway bar with its ancillary components looks pretty innocent but knowing BMW, they made it tricky to get to the location where the fasteners attach to the under-body.

Option Code 226 just says Sport Suspension under the ZMP M Sport Package.

Self Leveling suspension is not part of Option Code 226 because it's got its own code 220.

Ordering 2VA Adaptive Drive deletes Option 226.

So in all, the BMW literature is absolutely awful when it comes to explaining what a person is getting if these options are ordered.

I still need to double check under my car. When I got home from work yesterday and changed clothing, I was too tired to check. I think the sway bar on the X5 5.0i comes stock based on the order sheet and I thought I read somewhere that it's a 26mm diameter but my memory on this is fuzzy. I'll look for that thread and will post a link if I can find it. I think 24mm would be good if the person doesn't have anything but bigger is better on this item imho if there is indeed a 26mm option out there.

EDIT: I updated my earlier post. There's definitely a sway bar and it looks to be ~ 26mm.
