Unhappy POS X5 is getting scratched everywhere!!

I have been noticing that my X5 windows have been getting scratched on the outside since the very first week I have had the car. All the windows have multiple scratches and I have no idea where they are coming from.

I have never had any scratches on any of my other car windows, and have been hit head on by a big a$$ marble slab on the highway in my Denali windshield and didn't get a scratch.

Now today I have a freakin scratch on my navigation. I never even touch the screen or go close to it, and yesterday it was fine but today there is a scratch. No one has access to my keys or has been in the X since yesterday.
(For the people that are going to blame me..It might be my fault, and I may not know what happened to it, but it still shouldn't get scratched that easily).

Sand. Good thought! I watched a TV show, taped in Dubai yesterday...and I was shocked at how dry, dusty, dirty and windy it was. Wow, there is sand ripping around everywhere. It's like cars and buildings get a microdermabrasion treatment everyday. Not saying Los Angeles is a tropical oasis, but I could just never live in a Dubai like climate. Ick!

I see you have an X5 M on order. While that engine and transmission will be amazing, it is going to have the same windows, Navi screen plastic, interior plastics, etc., etc. Don't you think you might end up with another "POS" as you call your current X5? Kind of like jumping from a hot frying pan into the fire, eh?

Sand did come to mind, but I don't think that's what it is. I think that the paint would get damaged from sand, but not the windows. It is pretty hard to scratch a window. And none of my other cars have or have had this problem.

Deutsch100, I have been in LA all my life and have been in Dubai for about 2 years. The weather has not been too bad. It does get very hot in the summer, but you have A/C everywhere or you could just pack up and go on vacation to LA (Like I do)!

As for the X5M, I had a 2010 on order but decided to wait for a 2011 or get a Range Rover. And the X5 is not a "POS" (mostly) but the scratches everywhere and a few other things are starting to piss me off.

Well scratches don't appear from nowhere, someone rubbed the screen with something that left a mark..

Who washes your car? That would be the first place to look, a dirty towel, wash mitt or chamois could be a culprit, although it would be hard to scratch the glass (exterior windows at least) where is the glass scratched? Drive through car wash (even brushelss ones) can get grit on the m that could perhaps mark the glass. I've had wiper arms leave marks when the rubber deteriorates, had sand pile on my wipers and valets use them to clear it and scratch the glass on other cars...

As for the navigation screen, no one has been in my car and I have not touched it EVER(except today after I saw the scratch). I do occasionally clean it with a very good lens cleaning cloth but I did that last a couple months ago. And I am positive there was no scratch yesterday.

I get my cars washed at a professional style hand wash cleaner. They clean the interior, then they hand wash the car using pressure washers, and finally take it into a room and polish the car. Everything is done by hand. I have been getting my cars washed there multiple times every week and have never had any problems with them.
And like you said, it is VERY hard to scratch a window, especially the exterior ones. I will try to get some pictures if possible.

Every window has multiple scratches (exterior side) and they are very deep scratches.
