Clear Channel has the traffic info, for which we would need a dual tuner... or, with the new generation (MOST) cars, the HD tuner was sufficient?

in older generation (iBus) cars, we needed a euro dual tuner radio to pick up the traffic broadcast - it has not been confirmed to work in the US even if somebody had a EU radio (BM54?), maps with traffic info, and Nav supporting it...

if JHC says it was working for him without the sat tuner, then it was - no sat tuner needed...

if your car still has the original tuner, the production date of your tuner must be no later than the production date of your car itself, and no older than a few months before that - the BMW is using Just In Time logistics, and has little items just sitting on the shelves...

When you get the car, and dealer claims that he installed a new tuner for you (if this is your agreement to have the tuner installed), check the dates - the manufacturing date of the "new" tuner must be considerably newer than the car's date of birth - otherwise, if the date falls within the few month prior to car's built, then you had the tuner all along...

the new tuner might have a brand new 1 year FREE subscription included, while the original tuner had that subscrition expired/used up long time ago...

there is a chance of having a remanufactured/refurbished tuner being installed - unless there is a significant savings realized, that could be an issue...

but... i would wait to get the car in your hands to actually see what is going on...
Alright thanks, when it is in hand, I'll update this post with pictures and see whats going on.

i do not know first hand about the MOST components - the only MOST car we have is an E90, which is a lease, so i don't even look at any mods to that car...

if the past practice is any indication of the current and future performance, i would say, you need to check the generations of the Sat tuners, as in the past, the OE radios, TV modules, amps had gone through so many modifications, both on the SW and HW level. it is always better to get the latest generation that suits your car...

plug in that part number into google, and see what pops up - you should be able to find the latest and greatest...
