Leaky valve covers & mechatronic seal seepage -opinions?

Guys I just had my 4.8i '07 in for a booster recall and had the dealer give the sled a thorough once over. BMW of Dallas, crook central....but I digress. I have minor VCG leakage and they stated the Mechatronix seepage was present. The repair estimate was enormous, like buy a nice Submariner second hand enormous. Summer is my slowest time of the year for business and I'm tensing to a 6 month old boy so my thought is defer the minor leak repair. I've only had to top up once ever since owning it. My take is the leak is non-life threatening. Neither my wife nor I am commuters. X5 is about to roll 80,000 mi. I am more inclined to do the Mechatronix myself as its a straightforward job and the transmission scares me more than having to clean up the oil leaks and do the VCGs and upper timing cover gaskets in the Fall.

Anyone else been through this? Anyone know an excellent Indy in Dallas? THX!

I only have 46K on my '08 so not sure as to the Mechatronix issue. I have been going to BMW of Dallas since my '01 X5 and have never had any issues with their service. As far as an Indy, either Autoscope or Priore by Love Field or Overseas Motors by SMU.
