DIY:Dial replacement
I have been here for 4 years and had tons of help from the forum. I owned 01 Bmw X5 3.0 and have 08 X5 3.0. Now it's my turn to return the favor.
Long story short. I am living in Canada and bought a US X5 E70 car from dealer, so I had to replace the dial from mph to kph. 1. I bought the dial replacement from Moman for $80 canadian..... BMW X5 E70 - Replacement dial - converted from MPH to Km/h 2. Tools needs: torx T20 and one small flat screw driver. 3. Steps: -----Take out the instrument cluster: it's hold by two T20 screws. After taking out the screws, the cluster will just pop out by gentle pulling. There's only one wire connected to the cluster. Just push the plastic and it will pop out. ----------Open the instrument cluster: 1. Unscrewed the 4 T20 screws on the back of the cluster. 2. Use flat screw driver pop the clips from the lower right one first Then it will stay there and remove the clips on counterclock wise. 3. Take out the speedoneedle. Slight pull the base off the needle and turn it counter clock wise. You will hear a pop and it means the needle is loosing. Then follow the instruction on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtPUXcQwLjo 4. Take out the old dial and glue the new one on! |
