Did you confirm that the 35i did NOT have AD?

I cant comment on roll as I have AD.

You really must drive both, Diesel has 'grunt'- not high end, top RPM torque as you are used to thinking about. Drive it in low RPMs and it will be fine- wind it out as if you are driving a gasser and it will feel odd.
