X5 gone wild....errors galore
So my '07 4.8i went crazy on the drive to work today.
Every malfunction came on the iDrive...Electrical system, RFT, EDC/Susp'n/etc. Car drove fine (save for a funky signal light...delayed and slow, and the power lumbar supports were opening and closing at whim) other wise. The tach and speedo died too. Here's the codes that came up: (the scanner did not have BMW specific software, but it is a $1,000 model) U0100---lost communication with Engine Control Module/Powertrain control module P110F--Ambient Temperature Sensor Faulty CAN Signal ((this I googled as the scanner said "description unavailable")) U0155---lost communication with instrument panel cluster (ipc) control module P1551 Manufacturer Controlled Vehicle Speed, and Auxiliary Inputs Charging system is fine at 14.7. Any idea as to what occurred? Freak BMW Electrical issue? Thanks!

even though the charging system says 14.7, i'd still concentrate initial troubleshooting efforts on battery and alternator...

^^ Agree with above two comments. Battery if original is the easiest first step. If original, dont bother with paying for a diagnostic test, just replace it.

DAMMIT.....the battery is but 7 months old. I'll get it load tested and see what that says. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for the help!

Why was the battery replaced to begin with? This is either a faulty battery (happens) or more likely an alternator that has been failing, took out the original battery, you replaced it, and now has taken down the new battery.
Have the battery tested then the alternator. IMO A |

Sorry, just noticed your post. I had the battery replaced as a matter of course, as the X5 was coming from an very mild climate (Vancouver Island) to a city where it can get to -20F easily. Thanks for your thoughts.
