Battery replacement.

Hi all ,

I've read many posts about battery replacement but still have a few questions.

First , I bought the Eliminator Elm49/L5/H8 from Canadian tire and was wondering if this is a good replacement battery. I also notice it has no vent tube so it'll be impossible to reconnect my existing tube to it. Is this a major problem?

Also , I've read I will need to register the battery? If I have a mac , can I run the INPA ( or whaterver that tool is called) ?

Thanks

H8 should have a vent - is there place on the either side of the battery that you might need to puncture, perhaps? You need to vent the battery, as the battery is inside the car, and even "sealed" batteries may create fumes... if the battery has "plugged" side holes that are not vented, your battery may explode due to pressure build up...

also, it seems that a lot of "new" batteries have issues directly from the factory - once installed, drive around and make sure that the battery holds its end of the bargain, the voltage is not dropping, the charging is done ok... i just had to return a spanking brand new batery back to the store after 30 days of using it - it was defective on the inside... few years back i had similar issue - then it was the 3rd battery that worked fine, while the first 2 were DOA...

i don't have the E70, can't tell you much about registration process...

I did the battery registration with INPA and Toolset, but when I checked with ISTA/ISIS IT DID NOT register with the current mileage of my car, it still said 00miles which is the original battery, after registration with ISTA it changed to current mileage and amperage, my experience..

My take on batteries:

Not registering the battery will not cause any harm. A new battery will be under warranty anyway.

A Mac computer will not run INPA unless you use a Windows shell and then maybe.

Make sure the replacement battery is an AGM and it must be vented.
