Fan banging noise behind glove box...

Hi all,

I've got an 08, 4.8i that has a banging noise somewhere behind the glovebox. It gets slower and louder (like its just about to jam), then I switch off the AC, wait a few minutes then switch back on at a slow speed and it's ok again.

It's particularly bad on a hot day when turning a corner, and also when starting the car after it's been sitting in the sun for a while and the interior has got quite warm.

I thought maybe the ac fan blower(?) It sounds like someone stuck a piece of wood into the fan itself. Strange thing is it all seems to work fine during the cooler months.
