2010 X5 35d Thoughts/Reviews

Once again, I am unsure...I have posted before and have decided to go with a 35d...2010 do be exact...

Any thoughts? Reliability? I always keep up with maintenance...for my fiancee...round trip drives about 20km...

Go for it, updated nav, old body style. Apart from the typical bmw issues with peeling trim, cheap plastics which you should already be familiar with from your E46, the only big issue was egr coolers which tend to crack. There was a recall which addressed this.

The one I'm looking at is at shift motors...the owner deals strictly with BMW/Mini brands and has a 2010 with 60km for $38...How has your 2009 been for you? I just don't want it to leave my fiancee stranded...after all it is a bmw She drives my xdrive 328 now and I drive her Mazda because I commute and she does not...I'm getting rid of the 328

My 2009 has been utterly reliable in terms of drivetrain. Issues that I have had are
1. Broken parking brake (emf switch) - seems to be common as these E70s age
2. EGR cooler leaking - replaced under warranty, but there is a recall to cover this
3. Peeling trim on steering wheel and door pull - replaced under warranty.

The diesel seems to have dodged a number of issues affecting the gas E70s. Leaking coolant pipe on the V8 models, and failing electric water pumps on the 35i, leaving you stranded. The diesel has a mechanical pump

There are some people who have had emissions issues relating to the DPF though so check the service history on the car before you buy it. I'm at 86k KM now.

I'm not so much concerned about trim...just the mechanics...How many kms do you have on it? I heard that the EGR issue was resolved in 2010

I have only had my 2010 for 2 months but so far so good, the SCR temp sensor did fail and I could not get over about 90kph for a day but the next day all was fine, the light was still on but no power issues.

I have since ignored the light but plan to pull the tank next weekend and find out what the sensor is so I can replace or repair it, it has failed or is crusted up.

It failed when it was about -4 (I don't think this was the cause or anything) but the problem was being 1500km from home lol

It had 134000km on it when failed, I'm not complaining as it was used and high K so no big deal, I will fix it and were all good.

I guess but I bought a used car so par for the course, everything else works so I guess I look at it as a win because it is an easy fix and not a big deal.
