Strange issues, help!
Mechanic said I had faulty rear window washer jet. No water comes out at all, wiper blade still functions. I decided to have a look and see if there was an obvious blockage or something. I pulled back the trim inside the rear hatch at the top which houses the hoses but only by a crack, poked my finger underneath (don't ask me why) and found some wires but then decided to stop and put it back in. It was around then that parking malfunction came up - brakes don't engage. Then all 3 of my remotes do not lock or unlock the car! Help, does anyone know what is happening? I'm hoping electrical gremlin for the latter 2 things. But first thing probably washer pump.

You had the hatch open, and the car was 'turned on' for an hour or two while you were messing around, right?
You probably ran the battery down. This can be a sign of a battery about to fail. Take if for a good LONG drive 1-2 hrs. Or put it on a proper trickle charger for 24hrs |

Unfortunately not. Wasn't messing that long. And battery was my thought too, but checked it and the voltage was fine. I have an upgraded AGM battery besides.

check the fuse box? you might have short-circuited it whilst fiddling around the wires.

I agree, you should check your battery. |

Good news.
Thank god it was just a blown fuse. Was worried cos emf failure came up with brake actuator failure on the forums which would cost north of $1500 plus diversity antenna for the remotes. So was best case scenario in the end rather than what could have been!

Oh no.....
Fuse has blown again twice in as many days. Each time it blows parking brake malfunction comes on as well as the remotes not being able to lock or unlock. On my car it is the fuse in the back of the car, I think number 129 and is 5 amps. I am dreading the underlying cause. Any ideas anyone?

When I have an intermittent electrical short (if it's not an obvious find) - I will take a circuit breaker (same amp) and install it in place of the fuse. Usually the component causing the short eventually dies all together. Here I have ground the tabs of a long stem MINI circuit breaker to fit in place of an ATO fuse. MINI breakers $5 compared to ATO breakers $15 |

That looks like a rather expensive exercise if I am understanding your reply!
I did further research and found a few cases exactly the same. They all had parking brake malfunction and remotes stopped working. It was fuse 129 that blew. Not confirmed, but it may be that whenever the tailgate is opened there is a Wiring loom that goes into the left side tailgate. This may be exposed and touches the tailgate metal every time opened and causes the short. This makes sense to me as the problem happened when the tailgate was opened within seconds or minutes. Also, a few years back whenever reverse camera was turned on there would just be either a blank screen or green lines. Surprise surprise this wiring loom also connects to the reverse camera. So the more I look at the evidence the more it seems like a short from exposed wiring. So I don't think the above method will help, but thanks for your input. Also, on same day my rear washer pump failed. No warning no nothing, just stopped working. Do you think this may have blew due to current issues?
