X5 engine history

*** I've got all I need now. Thanks for all the responses. No need to reply to thread. ***

I had such an awesome response to my request for pictures in the E53 forum that I'm going to mine this vast source of knowledge yet again. I'm doing a piece for the Roundel on the history of the X5, and I'm not having much luck getting any information from BMW NA. What I'm looking for here is a timeline on the progression of engines offered in the American market for the E70. I've posted the same query in the E53 forum. And if there are any other noteworthy changes during the life of the E70, that would be good to know as well. I am shockingly, annoyingly ignorant about the X5 and all of its permutations.

Can you guys and gals help me out with this? I will be forever grateful and I'll try to throw in a plug for the forum as well.

Thanks!
Michael

What a shocker that BMW NA won't help much, for a BMW CCA article...
Who'd a thunk? ...

Hey guys and gals, thanks for all the great info!!! I've got enough now to proceed.

Here are some answers to questions raised:

Wiki is a good source, sometimes, but who knows who wrote it, and often car stuff is eurocentric, and I just want USA info.

I never know when (or even if) my stuff gets published, but I'm going to guess this story will be in the May issue. Or June. October?
