Fuel lid/flap

I just realized today that the fuel lid/flap only locks when you lock the car from the remote or CA when the engine is off.

When you have the engine running and lock the doors from the inside, the fuel lid/flap doesn't lock. This is also the case when you lock from inside with the engine off.

When I pump gas I have been pressing the unlocking button, after I shut the engine off, thinking it would also unlock the fuel lid/flap. Not sure why I started doing this. It's not my first Bimmer.
