E70 M sport lower mesh grills?

Anyone know where I can get mesh grills or any other grills instead of that ugly, cheap looking plastic for an e70 m sport?

I have seen some people paint them, not sure if I would do that but to each their own. Another option I have seen is the DTL replacement option that looks to replace the whole insert with the additions of an LED bar in place of the center trim piece like I have on my 2011. As far as outright upgrades to something else, or another style, I have yet to see that but can't say there isn't something out there.

Personally I can't see an advantage for airflow though there, probably just the opposite and adding water as you drive in an area that's not designed to get excess water in there anyway.

Not that I am worried about water getting in there, but being I was already in there when changing out my fog light bulbs I did take the time to put a little dielectric grease on the plugs as an added safety measure.

Just something to consider if you make any changes.

Edit to add: Looking again at the pic above, it looks like its a little different than my 35i so the water comment may not apply in your application.

Well I ended up getting the open grills with a mesh backing... looked a lot better! But that X5 is long gone... and unfortunately I did not take any pics... you can order the open variants from BMW, left is 4.8 and right is towing capacity increase I believe...

Where did you order the open piece? Did they have the open outer grill at a dealership?

I ordered it through a BMW parts distributor for the UK, but I'm sure the dealerships after-sales department can help you out.
