Importing music with USB drive or iPod

2011 X5, with 6FLA option (USB in glove box and center console).

I can play music from my iPod, iPhone and a FAT32 formatted USB thumb drive in the center console. It is my understanding that you cannot import music from this location though.

When I insert any of the working devices into the USB port in the glove compartment, none of the options work, everything simply reads "Not Connected."

Any ideas?

Thanks!

hmmm... Figured it out. Inserting a USB drive into the glovebox doesn't automatically kick off an import. You need to go to Options under CD to start an import. It doesn't appear that you can play music from this port either... Very strange they'd put in 2 USB ports...

I haven't... Car didn't come with one. Just playing around trying to figure out the options as best I can and Googling the ones I can't figure out...

there you go: Owners Manual: http://cache.bmwusa.com/PDF_904e4339...a-7f6050076ec8

Other manuals for your car: Owner's Manual Videos - BMW North America

Took a 2011 X5 35d since I don't know what engine you have.
