jamilio is on a distinguished road
P1030

Had the 4 Vanos bolts break on me and they were replaced. Engine is really weird. In the winter it would stall on me randomly (ie, while driving, give me a "jerk" motion, put itself in neutral, and roll to a stop.)

It gave me a couple good months of running smooth in the spring, and now in the summer, it has returned.

When this happens, I shut it off, wait 20 seconds, and it starts up. Sometimes the engine malfunction light will disappear or it will stay. Sometimes it will start up and run without a problem OR sometimes it will just keep turning over until the ignition times out...eventually stating up by the 3rd try.

Possible issues that I've read from other forums:
Solenoid issue
VVT motor needs to be replaced
BMW Mood Swings

Has anyone had a similar experience and resolved it?
