Auxiliary water pump
Had a local Indy shop diagnose a problem I was having where my wife's 2011 x5 xdrive50i started overheating when you would sit idling with the air on for about ten minutes. As long as you were going down the road the temp was fine. Anyway they said the aux water pump was not working and needed to be replaced. I was just wondering if anyone had done this before to see if it was something I wanted to tackle or to just let them do it.

How handy are you, it's not the easiest of jobs.

I do almost all of my own mechanic work but looking at it I really can't figure out what all to take off to even get to the thing.

If you can't figure out what all to take off to even get to the thing, you might get in over your head trying to fix it. It's your call though.

Do a quick search on YouTube for what's involved, that will let you know if you might want to tackle this job or not. It's really not hard, but it's a bitch of a job and a lot more involved that on most vehicles.
